Tesla’s stock rally since Trump’s victory has made Elon Musk $70 billion richer, according to NCBC. However, money was not the only thing Musk won from the election victory. Donald Trump has officially offered him the role of head of an “efficiency commission” to review the state’s finances.
Nor does Alexander Norén believe that money is the main driving force for the entrepreneur’s new path.
– I think he does it for ego’s sake, he says.
– He hates bureaucracy, he hates the union. He hates anything that slows down and stands in the way of him being able to realize his grandiose visions, such as building a factory or launching a rocket.
Already hinted in September
“Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) refers both to an Internet joke with a Japanese dog and to the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, which Musk himself has promoted.
In early September, long before Trump emerged victorious from the election, shared Elon Musk an AI-generated image of himself with the text DOGE on X. “Department of Government Efficiency”, could be read in the post even then.
