The First Templar offers players the opportunity to uncover the mysteries of the Knights Templar Order, become involved in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secret of the Holy Grail. Players encounter powerful enemies such as the Sacracen, King Philip IV of France, and the Inquisition at every turn. The game features both single-player and co-op modes. When playing alone, the player can switch between two characters, leaving the second hero to the game’s AI. A second player can join the game at any time, taking control of the AI-controlled hero.
