Region Västernorrland has for just over three years failed to test women for hepatitis B before donating breast milk, Sundsvalls Tidning reports.
Between spring 2018 and autumn 2021, the region missed testing a total of 78 women in connection with donation. This has put 203 newborns at risk of infection, as the virus can be passed on via breast milk.
The incident has been lex Maria reported to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo).
