Currently, the municipality rents about 10 places in nursing homes outside the municipality, something that forces some to make a longer journey when they have to visit their relatives. Nykvarn resident Alice Svensson is grateful that her husband has a place at Lugnet today.
– I want to be able to visit my husband, she says.
Of the five different options as an investigation into sites for the elderly, it is the option of a new build on a new site that is recommended, even though the initial investment will be higher than supplementing with a new building next to Lugnet.
L wants to keep the Calm
The Liberals in Nykvarn oppose the decision and say that the reports have flaws.
– We prefer to keep Lugnet and supplement with a new building next door, says Ann-Marie Falk (L).
The Sweden Democrats also found contradictions in the decision and wanted it to be investigated further.
A new residence is estimated to cost approximately SEK 200 million, and give the municipality 85 places. It is not yet known where a future nursing home will be located.
