Hosted by the Downtown Central Neighborhood Association, the Fall Pop-Up Street Store will be open on Sept. 29 from 10 am to 2 pm in Harmony Square, with clothing, shoes, bedding and toiletries available.

Founder of the pop-up store, Jen Middleton, said it’s the community that sustains the event by donating gently used items that can be welcomed by those dealing with homelessness or struggling on a low income.

“Every item you donate helps us make a difference and underscores the importance of community involvement in supporting those less fortunate,” Middleton said in a news release.

“We sincerely appreciate your generosity and commitment to helping others. Together, we can continue to create a positive impact and improve lives in our community.”

Middleton founded the event in 2016 to lend a helping hand to people in need.

On the day of the event, volunteers will have sorted items into various ‘departments’ and will assist people in finding things they need.

Along with clothing and shoes, the volunteers will be taking winter wear and small household items such as kitchen dishes and saucepans and bedding. Pet food is especially welcome.

To prepare for the event, donations are being accepted from 5-7 pm on Tuesday and Thursday at 141 Chatham Street.

Volunteers are also welcome to assist with sorting and preparing for the event, along with helping on the day of the store.

“The Pop-Up Street Store is a testament to the incredible spirit of our community,” said Jayme Wilson, the chair of the Downtown Central Neighborhood Association.

“By coming together to donate and support, we are not only providing essential items but also showing that we care about each other. This initiative exemplifies the power of collective action in making a meaningful difference for those in need.”
