The statement comes in connection with Donald Trump’s first government meeting on Wednesday.
“We have made a decision, we will announce it very soon, and it will be 25 percent, generally speaking,” says Trump in response to a question from a reporter, and adds that it will include cars, among other things.
A source from the White House, on the other hand, states for SVT News that nothing is written when it comes to customs duties against the EU.
The EU has previously said that it will strike back if the United States goes on with customs duties. Earlier in February, Trump announced that the United States was facing tariffs at 25 percent on all imports of steel and wool, which also strikes against EU member states.
Trump also announces that the 25 percent tariffs against Mexico and Canada, which were put on pause, will take effect on April 2.
