Donald Trump has wanted personal protection more extensive than any previous presidential candidate, reports the Washington Post.
According to emails and sources, his advisers are concerned that the Iranian government is planning to assassinate him.
Although there are no signs that Iran would have anything to do with the latest assassination attempts on Donald Trump, the FBI has not ruled out the possibility, writes the Washington Post. According to email conversations that the newspaper has seen, there is information that Iran is planning to assassinate Trump.
Drone and robot attacks are portrayed as the biggest threat.
Request military flight
During his election campaign, a record personal protection was ordered, with military flights requested and increased flight restrictions imposed over his residences and speeches.
In email conversations between campaign manager Susie Wiles and Secret Service director Ronald L. Rowe Jr., Wiles expressed displeasure with the lack of security.
She believes that a public event was recently forced to be canceled due to staff shortages at the Secret Service. Furthermore, Wiles writes that Trump’s campaign planning is being hampered by the threats and that she expects to hold many more events in the final weeks of the campaign.
“Highest level of protection”
A Trump ally also wrote a letter to the Secret Service asking for military aircraft or additional protection for Trump’s private plane, according to a copy of the letter reviewed by The Post.
The Secret Service says in a statement that Donald Trump receives “the highest level of protection.”
“In addition, the former president receives the highest level of technical security assets that include unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aerial surveillance systems, ballistics and other advanced technical systems,” said spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
