Last month, when he took over as president, Trump announced his tariff plan for products from Mexico, Canada and China.
Stating that as one of his first decrees when he took office, he would sign all the necessary documents to impose a 25 percent tariff on all products coming to the USA from Mexico and Canada and their “absurd open borders”, Trump said, “This tariff will apply to drugs, especially fentanyl, and all legal regulations.” “It will remain in force until foreigners stop invading our country.” He used the expression.
Trump pointed out that Chinese drugs were flowing to the United States at high levels, mostly through Mexico, and announced that they would impose an additional 10 percent customs duty on top of additional tariffs on all products coming to the United States from China until this was stopped.
Threatening BRICS countries with tariffs, Trump said, “We want these countries to make a commitment that they will not create a new BRICS currency or support another currency that will replace the strong US dollar. Otherwise, they will face 100 percent tariffs.” he said.
