Donald Trump’s punishment for the so-called “hush money” will be announced on January 10.
Now the future president is commenting on the whole thing and calling it an attack.
“It’s nothing more than a rigged charade,” writes Trump on Truth Social.
Ten days before he is sworn in as president, Donald Trump will be sentenced in the case where he was convicted of hush money payments to porn star Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels.
Now the future president rages in a post on his platform Truth Social.
“This illegitimate attack is nothing more than a rigged charade,” he writes.
Fell on 34 points
In connection with the sentencing on Friday, Donald Trump must be present at the criminal court in New York again or participate via video link.
Trump was convicted on 34 counts last May by a New York jury, a verdict that included the payment of so-called hush money to then-porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about a relationship between them.
The judge: No one is above the law
The announcement of the sentence was delayed so that it would not affect the presidential election and Judge Juan Merchan has already indicated that there will be no jail time.
Juan Merchan has refused to succumb to pressure to strike out the entire process and has argued that no one is above the law and that Trump was not president when the crime was committed and therefore cannot be considered immune. Trump cannot pardon himself in this case either.
When Donald Trump takes the oath of office on January 20, he will become the first US president to be convicted of a crime. His lawyers have previously indicated they will appeal any attempt to punish him before he takes office as president.
