Donald Trump moves closer to the inauguration after his triple

Triple victory for Donald Trump. The Republican billionaire won his party’s internal elections this Saturday, March 2, in three new American states: Missouri, Michigan and Idaho. He almost buries, if there was any, any suspense before “Super Tuesday”, being almost assured of being nominated by the Republican Party for the presidential election next November.

In Missouri, Donald Trump crushed his rival Nikki Haley by winning every caucuse held in the state, according to the New York Times. And in Michigan, the ex-president won the 39 elected delegates during a caucus bringing together some 2,000 activists, CNN reported. Earlier in the week, the former president had already won Michigan’s remaining 16 delegates, chosen in a primary election.

“Super Tuesday” in sight

He also won in Idaho, a state in the northwest of the United States, one of the last which could have allowed Nikki Haley to win delegates before the big meeting on March 5. The ballots held in Missouri, Michigan and Idaho were hybrid internal elections with different rules, in some cases reflecting dissension and tension despite the influence of Donald Trump.

The latter has won all the primaries organized so far. And his new victories on Saturday come three days before “Super Tuesday”, a crucial meeting during which 15 states simultaneously organize their Democratic and Republican primaries.
