At the hearing held at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York, Judge Juan Merchan announced that Trump, who was found guilty of paying a bribe to the actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential elections, was granted unconditional release.
HE DID NOT REACT ANYTHING
Trump, who attended the hearing online with his lawyer, did not react to the decision in question.
THE CRIME REMAINED FIXED
Unconditional release means Trump will remain guilty but will not be jailed, fined or faced with probation.
MADE HISTORY
However, Donald Trump will be the first president in US history to be found guilty by a court and take office.
In the “hush money” case in which Trump was found guilty, a fine and imprisonment of up to 4 years were envisaged. After his request to postpone the criminal hearing was rejected in the New York appeals court on January 7, Trump appealed to the Supreme Court, which is the last authority, on January 8.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Donald Trump was charged by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on March 18, 2023, within the scope of the investigation into the illegal “hush fee” payment to Stormy Daniels, an actress in adult films, during the 2016 elections.
Trump, who denied the accusations against him, began his trial in New York on April 15, 2024, and was found guilty of all 34 charges against him by the court jury after 6 weeks of hearings.
The US Supreme Court ruled that Trump has “immunity on some issues” for his role in the January 6 Congress raid and allegations of interference in the 2020 presidential elections.
The court ruled by a vote of 6 to 3 that Trump had immunity from prosecution for his official actions, but that this immunity did not apply to his private behavior.
Thereupon, New York Court Judge Merchan announced that Trump’s “hush allowance” case, whose sentence was expected to be announced on September 18, 2024, was postponed until after the US Presidential Elections on November 5, 2024.
