According to Reuters, a court in Georgia has indicted Donald Trump for manipulation of the 2020 election, based on documents published on the court’s website. Now the court denies that this is the case.
Earlier on Monday, Reuters published an article that charges have now been brought against the former president in connection with attempts to manipulate the election in Georgia. That reporting was based on documents allegedly posted on the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office website — documents that were later removed, according to Reuters.
After that, the court came out and denied that the prosecution had been brought. The court does not wish to comment further on the matter at this time.
If Trump is indicted, it will be the fourth indictment in the space of five months, and the second involving an attempt to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.
Deleted documents
In the now-removed documents, which were said to have been dated August 14 and referred to an ongoing legal case, several charges were listed. Including an indictment for violating the so-called Rico law, which was introduced to fight organized crime, writes Reuters.
According to the court, it was a false statement that the documents had been drawn up.
There must be text messages and emails in the evidence
According to CNN’s sources, the prosecutors have both emails and text messages that prove that the attempts at election fraud were rooted in the former president’s immediate vicinity.
Investigators in the state of Georgia have long suspected that the data breach in connection with the presidential election was carried out not only by individuals who sympathized with Donald Trump, but also by members of Trump’s team.
