Before entering politics, Donald Trump donated a total of $6,000 to Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign to stay on as state attorney general in California.

In 2011, he gave $5,000 to Harris’ campaign, and in February 2013, he donated another $1,000.

“Wise investment,” writes Democrat Jared Moskowitz on X and publishes a picture of the check.

Trump’s daughter Ivanka has also donated $2,000 to Harris, according to the report Washington Post.

In the past, Harris has faced questions about whether Trump’s donations were related to the legal problems at Trump University, the ex-president’s infamous and now-defunct school. Former students have said Trump’s school misled them into spending thousands of dollars after promising them life-changing lessons in real estate business.

During Harris’ time in office, the state took no action against Trump University, according to the report Washington Post. She herself has fought back against the accusations and said that the donations had nothing to do with the decision.

The Democrats’ campaign has now been renamed “Harris for president”.

She now has close to $96 million in cash to move around – and is likely to have even more waiting as fundraising picks up during the party convention at the end of August.

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party – and unite our nation – to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda. If you’re with me, add a donation now,” she writes on X.
