In the meantime, Tijn Pieren, director of DOMunder, places a plate next to the display case, so that everyone can read what kind of coins they are. “These coins are far too valuable to always show,” says Pieren. “After today they will go back into the vault.” Today, the coins are well guarded by volunteers and a security guard. The fact that so many coins were found under the Dom Square could mean that there was a coin workshop. “We found a lot of freshly minted coins here,” Pieren explains.
