Dominant Grant took first LPGA victory

Grant already set the pace on Saturday. Her 62, nine under par, was a career best on the US-based tour.

That gave a comfortable six-stroke lead heading into Sunday’s closing laps.

The competitors behind had needed – and probably hoped – that Grant would falter.

They hoped in vain.

After seven straight pars, Grant chipped in for birdie on the eighth hole. Further followed on holes 11 and 13.

A missed shot on the 14th created some nerves as recent US Open winner Allisen Corpuz gasped the Helsingborger in the ass.

But Grant held his game together, holed a couple of longer par putts and held on to his lead.

It was settled when Grant, to his own surprise, pushed the ball onto the green with his second shot on the closing par 5 hole.

A two-putt later and Grant had finished the day three shots under par and won the event on a total of -21, three strokes ahead of Corpuz.

The victory was the first of her career on the LPGA Tour for Grant. Last year, the Swede took home the overall victory on the European Tour.

She has previously played sparingly in the United States as Grant is unvaccinated and not allowed to enter the country under the previous vaccine requirements. Requirements that have now been abolished.
