Domestic workers: price increases, 9.2% increase since January

Domestic workers price increases 92 increase since January

(Tiper Stock Exchange) – Take the trap of tariff increases for domestic workers (echo, caregivers and babysitters), for which an agreement was not found in the negotiations held at the Ministry of Labour. “The unions, Filcams-Cgil, Fisascat-Cisl, Uiltucs and Federcolf, did not want to accept the proposal put forward by the employers’ associations represented by Fidaldo to stagger the increases due to cleaners, carers and babysitters over the course of the year, a way to limit the economic impact of price increases on family budgets already burdened by expensive bills and petrol”, explains Finaldo.

Failure to agree implies that, as provided for by article 38 of the collective agreement (CCNL), the minimum wage adjustment will be 80% of inflation, surveyed by Istat on 30 September of each year, and that of food and lodging allowance at 100% inflationi.e. that the increase for this year is 9.2%.

The increasesfor families who apply the contractual minimum wage to domestic workers, they range from 109 euros to 145 euros depending on the category. For the non-cohabiting carers hired at 30 hours per week, the adjustment to 80% is equivalent to 85 euros in addition, to which the accrual of the severance pay and holidays must be added. For cohabiting carers full-time the raise would be over 94 euroswhile for one babysitter hired full-time (40 hours) non-cohabitant the increase will be almost 115 euros per month.

“Concrete increases, not a mere scaremongering as has been repeatedly supported by the unions, with the risk that many of the workers now in good standing disappear into the black”, underlines Assindatcolf.
