When a dog in Tulsa, USA, started chewing on a power bank, the battery exploded and a violent fire broke out.
Now the fire department in Tulsa is going out with a call to the residents.
– You shouldn’t charge your devices right at the door,” says Andy Little, spokesperson for the Fire Service.
In a home in the American Tulsa, Oklahoma, a dog and a cat have laid down to rest. The other dog in the home has a power bank with a lithium battery in its mouth and carries it to its bed.
Once the dog has settled down, it starts chewing on the battery – which, after a bump, starts to shoot sparks and blue-white smoke pours out. Suddenly the power bank explodes.
The living room completely destroyed
A fire starts in the dog’s bed. The dogs run around, looking at the flames and barking before finally running away.
Soon after, the entire living room is ablaze.
The family in the house was at home and was able to alert the fire brigade in time to save the house itself, but the living room was completely destroyed.
“Escaped unscathed”
After the violent battery fire, the fire brigade goes out with an appeal to all residents.
– You shouldn’t charge your devices right at the door. Place it somewhere else so that it is possible to escape if it were to start a fire,” says Andy Little, spokesperson for the Tulsa Fire Department and continues:
– Fortunately, the pets escaped unharmed through a dog hatch. It could have gone really bad otherwise, if there wasn’t some kind of emergency exit or if the family was asleep when it happened.
