Several Joe Biden classified documents from the vice-presidential periods have been found in a private office in November, several US media reports.

Biden’s personal lawyers found the documents at a think tank in Washington, reports the Reuters news agency, referring to CBS News’ information on the matter.

The documents were found on November 2, i.e. the day before the midterm elections, says the president’s special prosecutor Richard Sauber.

News channel CNN says (you will switch to another service)that the U.S. National Archives has transferred the investigation to the Department of Justice.

The White House Legal Department immediately reported the documents to the National Archives, which took possession of the documents the next day, Sauber says.

He adds that the National Archives had never previously requested or searched for the documents in question. Sauber’s statement did not specify the content of the documents or how secret they might be.

CBS News reports that the documents did not contain classified information related to nuclear weapons.
