Doctors Without Borders suspends Burkina work

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

“In all places where MSF supports and delivers medical and humanitarian aid in Burkina Faso, we will only respond to life-saving emergencies for an indefinite period,” the organization writes on Twitter.

According to MSF, gunmen targeted an MSF vehicle. Four employees were in the vehicle, two of them were able to escape and two were killed.

MSF head Isabelle Defourny has condemned the incident, calling it a “premeditated and deliberate attack against a clearly identified humanitarian group, in the course of its medical work”.

The decision to end activities was “necessary to analyze the risks our groups are exposed to,” according to a statement.

Burkina Faso is one of the world’s poorest countries and has been ravaged since 2015 by an insurgency led by jihadists linked to the terrorist groups IS and al-Qaeda.
