Doctors were called in too late – child injured after giving birth in Västervik

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It was last autumn during a birth that the monitoring curve was wrongly judged to be normal. A few hours after the child was born, the child deteriorated and an investigation showed injuries to the child.

– If a doctor had been called earlier, the birth process might have been shorter and the child’s injuries less extensive, says chief physician Anna Michaëlsson, who made the lex Maria report.

– We make this type of notification to investigate whether all routines have been followed, to troubleshoot but also for the sake of the patient, she says.
