A doctor at a health center in Umeå risks having his license revoked, reports P4 Västerbotten.

According to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo), the doctor has failed in his professional role by misdiagnosing three patients. As a result, two of them died and the third, a child, was close to death.

In the child’s case, the doctor judged that the boy had suffered from the common flu, but two days after the visit to the health center he had to be rushed to hospital where it was found that he was in septic shock and had a soft tissue infection in one leg. The child had to be cared for in hospital for over four months and was operated on around twenty times after the accident.

It is now up to the Health Care Accountability Board (Hsan) to decide whether the doctor’s license should be revoked.
