We can say that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or with its Turkish name Doctor Strange: In the Madness of the Multiverse has become one of the films where theories have been flying in the air recently. Therefore, like everyone else, I was very interested in the movie and I had the chance to watch the movie at the press screening this morning, just before it was screened.
Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness review
Before moving on to the Doctor Strange 2 review details, I have to admit that I didn’t get what I expected from this movie. Of course, I will mention the details of this in the article, but this does not mean that the movie is bad in terms of viewing. I didn’t get bored while watching the movie, I watched it with pleasure, but some choices and events made me very sad and the consistency of the movie itself was damaged.
Even though I watched it with pleasure from start to finish, I couldn’t get rid of the feeling that it was far below my expectations when I left the hall. The main reason for this is that I was expecting a much more complicated story from such a beautiful title.
Of course, there are surprise scenes and events in the movie, but when we look at the general course, we see that what will happen is drawn very clearly from the very first minute. You can predict this trend in successful Marvel movies such as Infinity War, End Game or Spider-Man: No Way Home, but there are many different dynamics that surprise you on the journey. Unfortunately, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness does not fully achieve this.
The madness of the multiverse literally messes up the story
The reason for this feeling is that in the script of the movie, this title is easily crushed. Sam Raimi and his script team spent the material very easily. As an MCU fan, I can say that when I say the full movie is going to get excited and we will watch a very good fight, when I watch the failed scenes, I can say that I am saddened. Let me give an example from the series What If.
If you haven’t watched this series, you can skip directly to the next paragraph to avoid spoilers. Just as Ultron’s dealing with Thanos in What If was a huge disappointment, I have to point out that you will encounter similar disappointments in this movie. Moreover, when this situation is experienced right after the moment when you rise to the film, perhaps you experience a greater decline.
To be frank, the first Doctor Strange movie managed to surprise me even more in every way. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a bit of dark tone and surprising story details that I expected from this movie.
As we can see from the trailers and previous statements, American Chavez is at the center of the story. Although Marvel still has this character at the center of the story, it hasn’t taken the focus too far from Doctor Strange. We follow the whole process through Strange, including parts from the character origin story. We can say that the fact that Chavez is so important drags him and his team into the madness of the multiverse.
The multiverse conversation will obviously be covered in Marvel for a longer period of time. At least, it seems that this situation will be emphasized from time to time in the case of MCU Phase 4 movies. Although the operation of the multiverse is not clearly explained, some details and explanations that comic book fans will love are not overlooked.
I can say that this is one of my favorite points in the movie. On the other hand, some conversations and details in the multiverse process also manage to add a nice color to the movie.
As a result, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, contrary to expectations, has become one of the Marvel movies where you need to lower your expectations a few steps. It has a pleasant view, but it cannot fully live up to that multiverse story.
By focusing on different details, he actually passes the points that the audience wants to see very quickly, and while passing, he throws away his own consistency. In the movie, of course, you see that some doors are opened in terms of the sequel.
How many after credits does Doctor Strange 2 have?
Before I forget, there are two more scenes at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You won’t lose anything if you don’t watch the last one, but the scene, which is also called the mid credits, contains important details for the future of the story. That’s why I recommend that you at least wait until the movie is over.
