In this video, Dr. Myro Figura, an American anesthetist based in Los Angeles, shows how a mother removes a splinter from her child using a simple plastic syringe. “Where was this trick when I was growing up” he exclaimed in the video, which has been viewed 3 million times.
Align the syringe and splinter correctly
To successfully remove the splinter, the doctor advises aligning the plastic tip of the syringe with the splinter of wood. Then simply pull the piston, which removes the splinter.
British parents have already made videos on this tip, using the pipette supplied with the Doliprane, for example, for toddlers. If you do not have a syringe available, it is therefore possible to implement this tip with this type of pipette.
In all cases, it is important to remove a splinter of wood as soon as you notice it and to disinfect the wound thoroughly once the procedure is completed, to avoid any risk of infection.
