doctor Mukwege fears electoral fraud and calls on the Congolese

Four months before the elections scheduled for December, the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate denounces the irregularities of the ongoing electoral process. During an address to the youth of South Kivu on Sunday in Bukavu, “the man who repairs women” did not announce his candidacy for the next presidential election, as some had hoped, but he felt that the format current elections augurs electoral fraud and calls on the Congolese people to be indignant in the face of evil.

In front of several hundred young people who came to listen to him at the Panzi Foundation, Doctor Denis Mukwege mainly criticized the voters’ cards which had already been erased only some time after the revision of the electoral register. For him, this is a bad sign:

When we have irregularities of this type, and we are not able to be indignant to say that the way which allows us to make our choice is already biased, what can we hope for? I think today the great indignation would be that all those who have their voter cards erased demonstrate to say: “If you paid wrong voter cards you have to take responsibility.” But if we shut up and we go to the elections which were prepared to be defrauded, I must tell you: read the history of the Congo and you will see that, from 1885 to this day, the Congolese have never chosen their leaders. »

Doctor Mukwege calls for a way out of patriotic amnesia for the rebuilding of the DRC. He believes that the silence of the Congolese in the face of their ills is a betrayal.

However, the youth present felt that Denis Mukwege maintains the suspense instead of being politically clear. Marie Sifa leaves the conference room, she was expecting a big announcement: “ I would have liked him to speak out because in view of his actions, his words, we see that he deserves to be President of the Republic. I wish he could do it even openly, it can be better. »

Doctor Mukwege’s entourage still says they believe in this candidacy for the December 20 presidential election.
