Doctolib welcomes a new payment option! From now on, you can pay online for a physical consultation, directly from the site or the application as soon as you make an appointment! Enough to make the health journey a little easier.

Doctolib, the platform used to make medical appointments online, has become a daily essential. It must be said that the service has evolved a lot since its creation, in particular by popularizing teleconsultation, a service available without additional costs or different reimbursement formalities. In total, there are 40 million patients registered in France, 500 million appointments made each year, for 340,000 healthcare personnel referenced online in France, but also in Germany and Italy. And to continue to simplify formalities for healthcare professionals and facilitate access to patient care, the French company will offer a function that should be appreciated!

During of a hearing by the Senate Social Affairs Committee on March 20, Jean-Urbain Hubau, general director of the platform, announced the arrival of a system allowing physical consultations to be paid online, directly within the application. Imagine: no need to take out your checkbook or bank card! As announced in a blog post, the platform begins the deployment of its new payment option from this Tuesday, May 28, which will continue over the coming weeks. This should allow you to avoid finding yourself without a means of payment because the practitioner is not equipped with a reader!

Doctolib: online payment everywhere

On Doctolib, it is already possible to pay for your teleconsultation from your mobile. In fact, the platform asks you to enter your bank card number when making a video appointment, and to grant direct debit authorization. For payment for physical consultations, the principle is the same. The goal is to make “painless, transparent and fluid the act of being able to invoice, whether by third-party payment or by patient payment”while doing “save time for healthcare professionals”, as Jean-Urbain Hubau explained last March. Because payment in the office is, casually, time-consuming.

As with video consultations, patients will have to register a means of payment on the platform. Once the appointment is complete, doctors will be able to “trigger payment in one click”which will cause a notification to appear on the client’s application to validate the latter. “Online payment will also help secure their income”promises the site, which ensures that this payment option cannot be imposed by doctors.

Doctolib: other new features coming in 2024

Currently, Doctolib uses the secure online payment company Stripe to carry out transactions, but this is likely to change, because the latter is being replaced by a European service provider, whose name is currently being withheld. secret. Note that third-party payment from the application should arrive at the end of the year.

Please note, the option will not necessarily be available for all medical professions. Jean-Urbain Hubau had also declared that Doctolib had planned “to make a lot of innovation in the coming months and in the next two years for patients, for caregivers”. He notably cited the integration of artificial intelligence in certain processes, something that Doctolib had already mentioned last November (see our article).

Doctolib took this opportunity to improve a function launched last November: Oatient Messaging, now available on mobile, so healthcare professionals can now manage requests and communicate with their patients when and where they want.

Practitioners will also be able to benefit from an intelligent task manager to assist them and thus have, in the same place, a global and centralized vision of all the administrative and clinical tasks of the practice. Finally, Doctolib integrates a Connection to Medical Devices function, which allows them to “to send the patient’s data to a diagnostic device and, above all, to automatically receive the results in the patient file as soon as the examination is completed”. This should optimize the work of employees!
