Doctolib can now use your personal data to train its AIs. However, you have the option to refuse this processing of your information. Here is the procedure to follow.
Doctolib, the platform for making medical appointments online, has also succumbed to the siren call of artificial intelligence and should soon welcome an intelligent medical assistant boosted by AI to write consultation reports, as well as an “intelligent” answering machine that allows patients to make appointments by telephone by conversing with an AI – the latter is supposed to detect the urgency of a situation from the tone of voice (see our article).
But all artificial intelligence needs to be trained and, for that, it needs data! The French company is counting on its users to fill up. Also, since August 7, it has been asking their permission to collect their personal data, such as appointment history, prescriptions stored on the platform, medical notes or even medical profile – Doctolib assures that this data will be anonymized beforehand, meaning that it will not be possible to link the information to a specific person. Fortunately, it is entirely possible to refuse.
AI Doctolib: how to refuse to have your data used?
Unlike other digital giants – Meta and X have been criticized by European authorities on this subject – Doctolib insists on obtaining the informed consent of its users before being able to use their personal data. They are therefore completely free to refuse. “If this is the case, your user experience and access to the application will not be affected.”the company promises. To do this, simply check the “Refuse” box when the notification informing you of the change in Doctolib’s privacy policy appears, the next time you log in to the platform.
For those who have clicked on “Accept” mechanically, without really looking at what it was about, and who would like to change their mind can do so at any time. Here is the procedure to follow:
► Launch the Doctolib application on your smartphone.
► Once on the home page, tap on the tab Account, at the bottom right of the screen.
► A new page opens. Select My preferencesat the very bottom.
► Press Improving services.
► A pop-up window opens. Select I disable service improvement and press the blue button Save.
