Money or stuff?
The Red Cross calls on people to donate money to official aid organizations in particular. The advice is to ask – before you bring things anywhere – whether it is still necessary, where the things are being taken and whether there is coordination with local aid organizations.
Otherwise there is a chance that the transport and the goods will get in the way rather than help. Also think carefully if you are going to drive to the area, warns the Red Cross.
The cooperating aid organizations have started a national campaign and have opened Giro555 to collect money for the victims. Wednesday 15 February is a National Action Day for the victims.
