Do you have such a router You have to change

A router may be absolutely necessary for most households, but it is also quite uninteresting.

Most of us buy it once and leave it in the same place for several years, without thinking about it much more than that.

But looking over the router a little more often can actually pay off. In some cases, it can even be very important for one’s security.

The call: Change router

Routers can be very sensitive to attacks, especially those who have a few years on their necks.

Hackers can utilize routers’ vulnerabilities to obtain basically unlimited access to all devices that are connected to the network.

An example of this we got to know when the security company Vulncheck discovered two serious security deficiencies in several of the network manufacturer Zyxel’s older routers, which also PC magazine reported on.

The security deficiencies was then confirmed by Zyxelwhich urges anyone with the following routers to change immediately:

  • VMG1312-B10A
  • VMG1312-B10B
  • VMG1312-B10E
  • VMG3312-B10A
  • VMG3313-B10A
  • VMG3926-B10B
  • VMG4325-B10A
  • VMG4380-B10A
  • VMG8324-B10A
  • VMG8924-B10A
  • SBG3300
  • SBG3500
  • The reason why these routers are vulnerable is that they no longer receive any updates that clog any security holes.

So do you know if your router is a security risk

Even if you do not have any of the Zyxel roouts above, you should review your current router-it may be that it does not get updates anymore and thus should be replaced.

To find out, look at the router’s manual or google your router’s name and number. There you should be able to see if the router still gets security updates and if so how to update it.

If it turns out that your router is too old, get a new one. New routers are both faster and safer than the elderly, not least because of the new WPA3 system introduced in recent years, writes the PC magazine.
