Do this on the phone – it will last longer

Do this on the phone it will last longer

Samsung Galaxy phones have long been some of the absolute best on the market.

But a recurring problem with Samsung phones – and all other smartphones for that matter – is that after a while the battery ages and starts to drain faster.

Whether you have a brand new phone or one that’s a few years old, it’s possible to make your battery last longer between charges and wear it out less.

On its website, Samsung has released several tips and tricks that can help you with just this.

Many of the tips are good to take into account even if you have another phone, for example an iPhone or a Google Pixel.

1. Energy saving mode

One of the most well-known methods to save battery is to put your phone in power saving mode.

When the mode is activated, your phone will reduce several settings that usually cause the battery to drain faster, such as brightness and 5G.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Go into Settingsselect Battery and device care.
  • Press on Battery.
  • Activate Energy saving mode.

    2. Close unnecessary apps

If you have many apps open at the same time, you can close some of them to save battery.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Press on Latestbutton (the three lines at the bottom left).
  • Close apps you’re not using by swiping up on the screen.
  • 3. Limit apps

You can also limit battery consumption in certain apps. This means that they do not run in the background, which saves battery.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Go into Settingsselect Battery and device care.
  • Press on Battery.
  • Press on Background Usage Limits.
  • Here you can put unused apps to sleep, which means that an app will automatically be put to sleep after a while. There are also three options where you can decide whether an app should sleep, deep sleep or never sleep.

    Samsung explains:

  • “Sleeping apps: Shows you all the apps that are currently sleeping but can run in the background if you start using them again.
  • Deep sleep apps: Shows you all apps that will never run in the background. They will only work when you open them.
  • Apps that never sleep: You can add apps that never shut down or sleep in the background, so you can always use them.”

    4. Customizable brightness

You can set the brightness of your phone to be adjusted depending on, among other things, your battery status. It’s a great way to make your phone drain slower.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Go into Settingsselect Screen.
  • Activate Adaptive brightness.
  • Alternatively, you can lower the brightness manually, which is also good for the battery.

    5. Shorten screen time interruptions

Another good trick to save battery life is to make your mobile screen turn off faster when you’re not using it.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Go into Settingsselect Screen.
  • Press on Screen timeout.
  • Choose a time. Samsung recommends 15 seconds, as it is best for the battery.

    6. Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Last but not least, it is also good to disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in your mobile when you do not need them. It reduces battery consumption, says Samsung.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Go into Settingsselect Connection.
  • Swipe off to disable Bluetooth and/or WiFi.
  • You can also do this by tapping the Wi-Fi icon on the quick panel.

    7. Avoid accidental printing

Having your phone in your pocket can sometimes lead to you accidentally accessing buttons when your screen isn’t completely off. This also eats up your battery.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Go into Settingsselect Screen.
  • Activate Protection against accidental pressure.
  • Now your screen will be completely off when in a dark place, such as in your bag or pocket.
