May 1, May 8 and 9 and finally May 20. Four public holidays for this 5th month of 2024 alone. A very French specificity which is an opportunity to relaunch the discussion on the relationship of the French to work. A question that is all the more central since according to figures from the Bank of France, the productivity of workers in France is falling: – less 8% compared to the pre-Covid period. A pandemic which has also shaken up the relationship with work… as evidenced by the rise of teleworking and the establishment in the public debate of the idea of a 4-day week. Without forgetting the ecological transition, which also leads us to rethink the meaning we give to our professional activities. So, do the French work enough?
