Procedure to follow if you own one of these products
Farm-raised Tommes de Savoie have been recalled because they contain the bacteria Escherichia Coli. According to the recommendations of the government site Rappel Conso: “You must be vigilant and not consume these products because this bacteria can cause diarrhea, sometimes bloody, abdominal pain and vomiting, accompanied or not by fever. These symptoms can be followed (in 5 to 8% of cases) by severe renal complications, mainly in children.“.
Therefore, people who have consumed one of the contaminated cheeses, and who present this type of symptoms, are invited to quickly consult their doctor, notifying them of this consumption, as well as the place and date of purchase. If there are no symptoms within 10 days after consuming one of the products concerned, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor.
According to health authorities, it is recommended, as a precaution, not to let young children, particularly those under 5 years old, consume products (including cheese) made from raw milk. It is advisable to favor cooked pressed cheeses (such as Emmental, Comté, etc.), processed spreadable cheeses and pasteurized milk cheeses. The same recommendation should be followed for pregnant women, immunocompromised people and the elderly. Consumers are therefore invited to no longer consume these products and to return them to the point of sale with the possibility of a refund.
For the Monoprix Gourmet Tomme de Savoir, the end of the recall procedure is set for January 11, 2024, and the contact number is as follows: 08.00.08.40.00.
The end date of the Tomme de Savoie PGI recall procedure is set for December 22, 2023 and the contact number is: 06.86.57.19.10.
