Every second Swede is worried about crime in society, according to the Crime Prevention Council’s (Brå) latest security survey.
This survey also shows that there were more victims of fraud in 2023 than before.

And during the first six months of 2024, fraud via payment services has been at sky-high levels, according to the Financial Supervisory Authority (FI).
“During the first half of 2024, the total amount as a result of fraud via payment services amounted to SEK 1,014 million,” the authority wrote in a press release in November.

Not infrequently, fraudsters use well-known brands to gain the trust of unsuspecting victims. This allows them to access personal information and bank or account details.
Some of the companies whose brands have been exploited during the wave of fraud are, for example, Postnord, Ica Banken and Postkodlotteriet.
– The modus operandi is roughly as follows when the person answers: “Hello, I’m calling from the Postcode Lottery and just want to tell you the happy news that you won 37,000 kroner (the amount can vary by a few thousand notes) in Grannyran. Aren’t you happy? And soon it Christmas – what are you going to do with the money?”, has Roger Magnergårdpress spokesperson at the Postal Code Lottery, previously told News24.

Lendo: “Exploited by criminals”
Now yet another company has been exposed. This time it concerns the comparison service Lendo, whose trademark is used by fraudsters in an SMS message where it is claimed that the recipient has been approved for a loan and that the money must be paid out within 1-3 working days.
In the text message there is, according to Advice & Opiniona phone number that the recipient is asked to contact in case of any questions.

When Nyheter24 contacts Lendo, they state that they have been alerted to the “scam text” that is rampant.
“Lendo is a comparison service, and we never send out messages of this kind. All information and communication about a disbursed loan always comes directly from the creditor with whom the consumer has chosen to take out a loan,” writes Sophia Johanssoncommunications manager at the company, and continues:
“Unfortunately, we see that Lendo’s brand is being used by criminals in such contexts, and this is something that we are actively working against. We have taken several measures to protect consumers, including blocking our number, cooperating with relevant authorities such as the police and informing on how to recognize scam messages.”
Lendo also refers to a special page on their site where they share advice on how to protect yourself from fraud. Here you will find them.
