Djurgården’s star Linus Klasen has been poked for a month.
Now he can be eligible for games in Robert Kimby’s team again.
– He has done a hell of a job and it will be fun to have him back, says the coach to Hockeynews.
The veteran Linus Klasen38, opened the season scoring ten points (1+9) in the first ten innings, but he looked tired, heavy and uninspired. Then the club made the decision to let him train – and he has been out of the match squad for a month.
Kimby is impressed by Linus Klasen
Djurgården’s sporting management, with the sports director Niklas Wikegård in the lead, decided that Klasen would do extra cardio training and he has had to grind in the hidden.
– I understand that there was a lot of writing or what to say. Our plan was to get some kind of kick start. Then the work doesn’t stop now and that’s what I mean by a long-term part, says the coach Robert Kimby to Hockeynews.

He is impressed by Linus Klasen’s attitude and that he accepted to only train hard, and not play matches, for a month. He has missed a total of eight games.
– He has done a hell of a job and it will be fun to have him back. At the same time, we focus on the team and everything we have done all along. It’s like bringing anyone back from injury even though it’s been on other terms, says Kimby.
Wikegård reveals that Klasen is playing
Now it actually seems to be time for Klasen to play again. He is expected to be part of Djurgården’s squad that will play at home against Västerås on Wednesday evening. Then awaits a really important match at the top of the table, away to Björklöven on Friday.
– We keep a line, we don’t play half-injured players during the season. We have had Kelleher, Krueger, Mountains. We have Linus Klasen on another type of list who will probably start playing again soon if I understand the signals correctly, says Niklas Wikegård in a clip on Djurgården’s YouTube channel.
– I think we have a couple of new guys in the lineup on Wednesday. Then we’ll see if Linus Klasen knocks on the door until Wednesday. Great possibilities for that to happen, he continues.

Linus Klasen with against Västerås
The player in question himself has never wanted to comment on the poke. He has constantly chosen to snub the media. So also this time. However, Robert Kimby gives his view on the matter.
– We must still talk to each other here so that everything feels good. But that is the idea (that Klasen will play). It’s the same with all players. You can have different individual plans. In this case, if you want a kickstart at the beginning and are trying to do something long-term, there will certainly be some extra work here and there. But this was above all to get some help in the beginning or what to say. It sounds terrible to say that. We got to a point where we thought this was a good plan and made that decision, he says.
Exciting to see if Linus Klasen enters the team with new energy and can contribute with goals and assists. We will see if it has been useful for him to train hard on his own next to the rest of the team.
