Almqvist struck with about a quarter of an hour left. Her long-range shot from the right flank fooled BP goalkeeper Nichole Persson, who saw the ball dive into the net behind her.
“Today it was extra nice to win three points,” says Almqvist after the 2-1 goal that gave Djurgården three important points.
Stinalisa Johansson headed in Djurgården’s lead in the fifth minute. BP’s equalization was delayed until the 70th minute, when substitute Saga Swedman was caught in the penalty area. Heavy for Djurgården, who had previously hit the post in the pursuit of 2-0.
Then Tove Almqvist made sure that it was still a long-awaited victory for the away team at Grimsta. Djurgården, which had not won since mid-April, now stands on ten points and hands over the qualifying spot to Örebro.
BP remains on six points and a relegation spot.
