The interrupted match between Hammarby and Djurgården had to be played on Monday. The restart was goalless and Hammarby eventually won the Stockholm derby 2-0.
Now Djurgården’s coaching duo Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlöf are fired.
– We thank Kim and “Tolle” for the years we have had together and from the entire side of Djurgården Football we wish them all the best going forward, says sporting director Bosse Andersson in a press statement.
Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlöf took over as head coaches in 2019 and started with SM gold in their first season. In total, the duo led 177 Allsvenskan matches for the club.
Three rounds left
According to The Express is the most likely scenario that the former Djurgård coach Pelle Olsson, who made a comeback at the club as a scout in the autumn, will take over the coaching duties for the rest of the year.
Sunday’s match between Hammarby and Djurgården was canceled after bangers and other pyrotechnics were thrown in from Djurgården’s short side. After a long meeting, the news came that the police had withdrawn the public permit and that the match would be played without an audience.
Djurgården is in third place in the Allsvenskan with three rounds remaining. However, AIK can pass if they win against IFK Göteborg on Monday evening.
After the messy Sunday match at Tele2 Arena, the Gothenburg police have prepared with drones to prevent a similar situation arising at Gamla Ullevi.
