It’s morning, it looks like six o’clock, a crowd is claiming that a body has fallen into a lake, or what everyone has decided to call “lake” because there is water. Fishes. People. Women especially. Who wash often, but who can also wash themselves. Men too. Even if it is not on the same side that they wash.

An old man and a young man moved away from the crowd, each praising the epic of his generation: its leaders, its politics, its social achievements. A generational contest to tell a blocked future, to forget “the demon-cracy of our Republic”…

Djo Ngeleka

Actor, director, author and humorist, Djo Ngeleka navigates between several waters. He was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, where he lives and works. Since 2010, he has embarked on a quest for innovative theater that breaks with the aesthetics of complacency linked to the need for survival. He has embodied several characters and produced about ten productions. As an author, he has written four plays: Paris sera pris, M’appelle Wantanshi, Le Lac and La Conférence. Winner of the “Visas for creation” program, organized by the French Institute in 2018 (theatre category) through which he benefited from a two-month residency in France. He also participates in and carries projects in Africa (notably in the DRC) and in Europe (Belgium, France).
