DJI‘s modular camera adventure is over – new Osmo Action 3 The camera returns to the original’s one-piece design (and brings back the name “Osmo” to further distance itself from the Action 2).
The DJI Osmo Action 3 uses a similar camera setup as the Action 2 – a 12MP 1/1.7” sensor behind a 155° ultra-wide lens (f/2.8). Videos are saved to a microSD card at up to 130 Mbps.
The basic video modes are the same as before – 4K at 120fps (16:9) or 60fps (4:3) and 1080p at 240fps (16:9). There are several slow motion modes and Hyperlapse with resolution up to 4K.
new model, 4K/120fpsdeveloped, working up to RockSteady 3.0 It has electronic image stabilization. HorizonSteady is back and will keep the horizon level even if you rotate the camera 360°, but 2.7K/60fps limited to. It has a new HorizonBalancing mode as the middle ground, it can correct tilt up to 45° and works up to 4K/60fps.
Since vertical video is unfortunately popular in the modern world, the camera comes with a new faceplate with two ports – one on the bottom and one on the side, so you can quickly switch between landscape and portrait video. The quick release design has been improved since Action 2 by adding notches for a “locked, shockproof grip”.

Osmo Action 3small in front of 1.4″ the screen has gained touch functionality so vloggers can use it to change camera settings. Something similar was possible with the Action 2’s Front Touchscreen Module, but that’s a thing of the past. Also the rear screen is bigger, 2.25” (was Action – 1.76”).
The camera can record up to 160 minutes (at 1080p/30fps, no EIS, screens off). Thanks to improved thermals, the only limit to 4K/60fps recording is how long the battery will last.
Even more impressive, with the included battery -20° to 45°C It has a wide operating temperature range (-4° to 113°F). GoPro usually sells Enduro Extended cold weather batteries separately. Note that you cannot charge batteries below freezing (a common problem with lithium batteries), with a charging range of 5° to 40°C (41° to 104°F).
On the plus side, the battery has support for fast charging – 0-80% takes 18 minutes and the remaining 20% needs another 32 minutes.
The camera is waterproof and can dive up to 16m (52ft) without a case. DJI has a special case if you need to dig deeper. The color temperature sensor helps the camera provide more accurate color underwater and when transitioning to the surface. The two touchscreens and camera lens are protected by Gorilla Glass and can withstand drops from 1.5 m (5 ft). In addition, the screens have a hydrophobic coating that allows you to use them even with wet fingers.
For audio, the camera has three built-in microphones and USB-C – 3.5mm adapter You can connect external microphones using action 3It can also be used as a webcam for high quality video and audio during conference calls and live broadcasts.
