Divendal’s political career started at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, first as spokesperson, then as deputy director of Information. In 1986 he became a municipal councilor in Heemstede and in 2004 an alderman in Haarlem. The new term of office in De Ronde Venen will last six years.
