“A company has the same right as private individuals to express their opinion,” says Disney CEO Robert Iger.
The feud between DeSantis and Disney began when the entertainment giant took a stand against Florida’s so-called “Don’t say gay” law, which effectively prohibits teaching children under the age of nine about sexual orientation and gender identity.
DeSantis responded by establishing a board that oversees the governance of the land that Disney, by special statute, controls. Disney calls this in its lawsuit a politically motivated revenge against the company.
