If we look at what Netflix and Co. have to offer, it quickly becomes apparent that the available titles mostly come from the past three to four decades. If you want to see a classic from the 1930s, you have to search very deeply in the catalogue. However, Disney+ is now opening the Gates to the archive of Disney Animation Studios.
The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th birthday this year and on this occasion dares to look into its own past. Movies like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Bambi are world famous. But the Disney archive has other things Animated Film Treasures to offer. Some of these are coming to Disney+ now.
Coming soon to Disney+: 27 classic short films that have never been seen on the streaming service
27 short film classics from Disney Animation Studios have been painstakingly restored and revised so that they can now be shown in the best possible version on Disney+. Look forward to a Reunion with well-known Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse as well as sidekicks Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto.
The very first big Disney star also made it into the selection: Oswald the funny rabbit is represented on Disney+ with two short films. Trolley Troubles and Alles nass both date from 1927. If you are interested in the history of cinema and animation, then there is no way around it.
