Disney is looking for Johnny Depp’s replacement for the new Pirates of the Caribbean – and Dune 2 star is the hottest candidate

Disney is looking for Johnny Depps replacement for the new

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film series has produced five films so far. All with Johnny Depp in varying modes of motivation. The franchise based on the amusement park attraction of the same name generated over 4.5 billion US dollars in the Mouse House. So it’s no wonder that Disney wants more loot sooner or later.

Depp will probably no longer be on board, but rumor has it that his young successor is already being traded.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6: Who will play the star pirate after Johnny Depp?

As CBR has learned via The DisInsider, Disney is reportedly looking for a specific actor to play the lead role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film. We’re talking about Austin Butler, who most recently impressed as the villainous Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the sci-fi blockbuster Dune: Part Two. He also played the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in Elvis, appeared in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and led the fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles as a six-pack elf.

According to the anonymous insider, Butler was also being considered for the title role in the live-action Hercules film scheduled for 2026, but preferred him as a pirate. It is not yet clear whether Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will actually come about or, like so many Hollywood projects, will be sent over the plank. Also unclear: If the actor had problems changing the way he spoke like after Elvis…would he then introduce himself as Austin ButLARR in a pirate accent?

Barbie star Margot Robbie and The Bear actress Ayo Edebiri have already been unconfirmedly considered for the (presumed) reboot of the upcoming Caribbean film.
