The Artful Dodger is not set on a pirate island. Instead, we find ourselves in an Australian colony in the 1850s. The moral grey areas The series leaves it up to its main characters to unmask the secrets of Port Victory: former street urchin and eponymous conman Jack Dawkins (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and full-time crook Norbert Fagin (David Thewlis).
In the meantime, Dawkins has worked his way up from prisoner to surgeon. But the The past catches up with himwhen his old acquaintance Fagin also ends up in the colony. Dawkins sees no other choice and starts a criminal coup alongside Fagin, which sets off a turbulent chain of events.

The main roles are brilliant David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) as a wonderfully eccentric petty criminal and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones) as a clever reluctant thief.
The two protagonists can neither live with nor without each other and hold the turbulent plot together. The same goes for the rest of the cast, who play their characters with loving madness and turns every coup into an adventure. With its gaudy atmosphere and cheeky dialogues, the series is reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
