In this sixth episode: the Starship and the colonization of the Solar System

After observing the sky for centuries, humans decided to do more: and let’s go for the colonization of the Solar System! First, they went to the Moon, with the Apollo 11 mission which saw the first steps of Man on our satellite. But today, the new objective is none other than the colonization of the planet Mars. The billionaire and holder of the private company SpaceX, Elon Musk, makes no secret of it: he intends to send humans there in the next decade! To do this, he relies on his new generation rocket: the Starship!

Unveiled in 2017 by the company Space X, this launcher will be reusable unlike all launchers built so far! The first tests took place in 2018 with the very first prototype: the Starhopper. Many failures have occurred, but not only! In May 2021, the SN15 prototype finally managed to land smoothly for the very first time! Built in the open, it should bring humans back to the Moon by the end of the decade as part of NASA’s Artemis program. But this would only be the first step: in the long term, it is indeed the Red Planet, Mars, which is targeted. To find out more about this technological jewel and all the anecdotes surrounding it, you will have to go to Swipe Into Space !
