The weather was perfect for Discover Blenheim, which featured dozens of yard sales, open-door activities and information booths from local organizations.
Debbie Brush, a volunteer organizer representing the Blenheim Rotary Club and Talbot Trail Place committee, was impressed with the positive response to the third-year event, sponsored by Ridge Landfill Community Trust.
“I saw that there was a need,” she said of the town-wide yard sales. “I make it into a whole day about Blenheim.”
There were 68 yard sales registered, not including pop-up sales the day of the event.
Fifty-five booths were in the bustling park, covering everything from tourism and business, to municipal departments and charitable causes.

“It’s open to anything that relates to people wanting to do things in our community of Chatham-Kent,” Brush said.
“It could be health and wellness. It could be sports groups.”
To help navigate, visitors could grab a map at the park depicting every participating stop throughout the area, as well as a list of community resources available and local restaurants.
Open-door locations included various shops, the Blenheim Youth Centre, military museum, pool, among other venues.
“I try to (provide) a variety of what can be offered to the community,” Brush added. “This is where people who have lived here forever, or people who are new to Blenheim, can find out about these kinds of resources.”
Talbot Trail Place has a number of special events planned for this summer, including Art in the Park on June 22, as well as the Blenheim Children’s Festival on July 6.
