GIRO. Winner of two stages in the Tour of Italy, Arnaud Démare showed once again that he was the best sprinter in this Giro. Fourth in the general classification, Romain Bardet retired during this 13th stage.
The essential
- The 13th stage of the Giro followed a classic scenario with a four-rider breakaway, including Julius van den Berg (EF Education-EasyPost), Mirco Maestri (Eolo-Kometa), Nicolas Prodhomme (AG2R Citroën) and Pascal Eenkhoorn (Jumbo-Visma) who was picked up in the last km.
- Falling ill during the 12 stage, Romain Bardet said goodbye to his dreams of the Pink Jersey after getting into his sports director’s car in the first kilometers.
- In the general classification of this Giro, Juan Pedro Lopez is still in pink with 12 seconds ahead of the Portuguese Almeida and Richard Carapaz who took the bonuses during this 11th stage.
