DIRECT French swimming championships Leon Marchand ensures the qualifiers follow

Léon Marchand doubled the 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke for the first time to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

19:18 – Summary of the day

Very nice collective session from the French, with the double qualification of Leon Marchand in the 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke, as well as the two qualifiers in the 200m backstroke Emma Tarabo and Pauline Mahieu. Two also qualified in the men’s 800m freestyle with Pacôme Bricout and David Aubry, while Damien Joly failed out of the two qualifying places for this event despite a time below the Olympic minimums.

19:14 – Léon Marchand satisfied

If the French swimmer did not achieve breathtaking times, he is rather happy with his performance only a few days after his arrival from the United States. He admitted that he had difficulty coping with the jet lag and placed two performances in the top 10 of the best times of the year.

19:07 – Léon Marchand qualified

Léon Marchand achieved his objective and qualified for the 200m breaststroke, and secured the essential by winning the final in 02:08.95.

19:03 – Start of the 200m breaststroke

Let’s go for the 200m breaststroke, with a good chance of seeing two French people achieve the minimums.

18:57 – The 200m breaststroke in a few minutes

Léon Marchand will try to qualify for his second event of the day, the 200m breaststroke. He will also be able to judge himself on the ability to do two events in one day, as will be the case at the Games.

18:54 – Gaspard wins the women’s 50m breaststroke

The Belgian Florine Gaspard won the 50m breaststroke, ahead of Cyrielle Duhamel who is therefore French champion. No Olympic qualification for this event absent from the Olympics.

18:45 – Two more French people at the Games

It was the Tunisian Ahmed Jaouadi who won this race hands down in 7’45.31. Two French people still achieve the minimums and will go to Paris: Pacôme Bricout and David Aubry.

18:35 – The 800m NL in a few moments

The 800m NL final will begin, with all the swimmers able to achieve the 7’51″65 qualifying time for the Games. Four have already gone below and three others are very close.

18:27 – Two qualified in the 200m backstroke

there will be two of them in Paris in the 200m backstroke, with Emma Terebo and Pauline Mahieu! The latter managed to remobilize after the failure in the 100m backstroke on Monday.

18:24 – The 200m backstroke has started

Emma Terebo is in row 4 and has already swum under the qualifying time this morning. She is the big favorite, while Pauline Mahieu absolutely must swim less than 2:10.39 to qualify.

18:19 – Competition for the 200m backstroke

The women’s 200m backstroke that follows promises to be very close, with several swimmers who can fight for qualification. Laure Manaudou’s French record dating from 2008 could well fall.

18:15 – Qualification for Léon Marchand

No worries for Léon Marchand who qualified in 1’54.08 and achieved his best performance of the season, seven tenths off the best performance of the year. It’s a good race even though he didn’t yet have a reference before this morning. The second Frenchman Noyan Taylan comes within four tenths of Olympic qualification.

18:13 – Here we go for Léon Marchand

The 200m butterfly started in the Chartres swimming pool, and Léon Marchand is at water line n°4

18:09 – The 200m pap in a few minutes

The 200m butterfly will begin in a few minutes, with the first qualification of the day up for grabs for Léon Marchand.

18:05 – Mélanie Henique wins the 50m pap

Unsurprisingly, Mélanie Henique won the 50m butterfly in 25″60 and once again won the title of French champion in the discipline. The real test for her will be the 50m freestyle on Friday, where she will try to qualify for the first time games.
