19:21 – A positive first day
End of program for this first day of the French Swimming Championships in Chartres. The public was served with great finals and encouraging performances from our swimmers. Marie Wattel (100m butterfly), Anastacia Kripichnikova (400m freestyle F) and David Aubry (400m freestyle H) managed to qualify for the Olympics by achieving times below the Olympic minimums. Small disappointment all the same for Charlotte Bonnet in the 100m breaststroke. One of the great figures of current French swimming won the title of French champion but her time did not allow her to qualify for the Olympics over this distance.
19:17 – Maxime Gosset wins in the 50m butterfly
Maxime Gosset won in 22 seconds 87 hundredths in the 50 meter butterfly final. This is the same time as that achieved this morning by Florent Manaudou in series. We should see Gosset again in the 100m butterfly, a race which is part of the Olympic program unlike the 50 meters.
19:05 – Charlotte Bonnet, French 100m breaststroke champion
Former Olympic medalist (4 x 200m freestyle in 2012), Charlotte Bonnet won the 100m breaststroke event. However, she did not achieve the requested minimums (1’06”79) her time is well above (1’06”79). It’s not really a big surprise because the resident of Olympique Nice Natation had to beat her personal best to hope to go to the Olympics.
19:02 – 3 individual tickets and one relay ticket
Little recap before the women’s 100m breaststroke final. 3 tickets for the Olympics have already been won, Wattel in the 100m butterfly F, Kirpichnikova in the 400m freestyle F and Aubry in the 400m freestyle H. For his part, Viquerat has punched his ticket for the 100m breaststroke relay.
18:56 – David Aubry at the Olympics!
Second in a race won by Jaoudi, David Aubry narrowly achieved the minimums for the Olympic Games (3’46”46) or 32 hundredths better. “We train all year round for this, but you have to be good on the big day, so doing it at the right time is a great joy” declares the swimmer from Villeneuve sur Seine who is training this year in Italy .
18:50 – Duel between Aubry and Bouchaut over 400m H
The fourth final of the evening will have to be played between Aubry and Bouchaut. Note that the Tunisian Jaoudi is one of the favorites for this race but he cannot be considered French Champion in the event of victory.

The French swimming prodigy, Leon Marchand, will begin its French championships tomorrow. He will appear for the 400m medley heats in the morning, then probably the final in the afternoon. He will then have to continue with the 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke (Wednesday) and 200m medley (Friday).
18:37 – Place for the men for the 400m freestyle
It is now up to the men to compete in the 400m freestyle, as a reminder the Olympic minimums are set at 3’46”78
18:32 – Kripichnikova wins without surprises
Anastasia Kirpichnikova won without surprises ahead of the Russian Egorova and Tessariol. She finished very strongly in 4min06sec87, almost a second below the requested minimums. This is his personal best in a large course. His ticket for Paris 2024 is well stamped.
18:26 – Muffat’s French record in danger?
Camille Muffat’s French record for the women’s 400m freestyle (4’01″13) which dates from the 2012 French championships is set very high. Kripichnikova has already swum faster in a small pool in 3min 59sec 56 should not run so quickly today.
18:20 – Kirpichnikova takes the stage
One of the French side’s rare medal hopes at the Olympics, Anastasia Kirpichnikova presents herself for the 400m freestyle final. The swimmer of Russian origin is the clear favorite but she will have to work hard to achieve the minimums at 4’07’90.
18:15 – Viquerat champion of France in the Men’s 100m breaststroke
Viquerat won in 1 min 00’07 but did not achieve the minimums which were set at 59 min 49. A small disappointment for the new French champion who could console himself with this ticket for the relay at the Pairs Olympics.
18:10 – Mission accomplished for Marie Wattel!
Double blow for Marie Wattel! She won with a very satisfactory time (57’49), a time well below the minimums. “I’m relieved, because this morning it was a big disappointment. It’s a first step towards Paris!” she adds that doubts did not spare her last year “When you doubt you no longer know what it is to run fast”. Marie Wattel is back
