Russian forces continue to make some progress in the Donbass in Ukraine. The battle for the city of Sevierodonetsk, the easternmost city that Ukraine still controls, is intensifying.
Russian troops are advancing towards the city center, according to Serhiy Hajdaj, governor of the Luhansk region.
“The situation in Sievjerodonetsk is as complicated as it can get,” he writes in Telegram, adding that the entire region is under constant shelling of “air bombs, artillery and tanks”.
Military analysts have described the Battle of Sievjerodonetsk as a battle against the clock for Russia. The city is important for the Russian attempts to quickly take control of the Donbass before more arms supplies from the West arrive in support of Ukraine.
