Adolphe Muzito has announced that he will be a candidate for the presidential election scheduled for the end of 2023 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His candidacy is in addition to that announced by Martin Fayulu. Both are leaders of the Lamuka platform, which they take turns in the form of a rotating presidency every six months. In Kinshasa, this dual candidacy once again illustrates the cracks and differences within the coalition, believe some observers.

The main divergence lies, according to the camp ofAdolphe Muzito, in the fact that Martin Fayulu accepted that the Common Front for Congo (FCC) of Joseph Kabila integrates the movement called Patriotic Bloc. This informal structure brings together civic organizations and opposition political parties, which demand consensual electoral reforms before the 2023 election.
For the former Prime Minister, Joseph Kabila tampered with the 2018 election results and is not qualified, at this stage, to lead the fight for good elections “.
For its part, the camp of Martin Fayulu is surprised and recalls that the party of Adolphe Muzito is also a signatory of the first public declaration of this Patriotic Bloc, and that its members even participated in the first march of this movement.
The other element of divergence is the interpretation made by each camp concerning the current objectives of Lamuka. Those close to Fayulu recall that the coalition turned into a political platform in April 2019. The Nouvel Élan party of Adolphe Muzito, for its part, considers that Lamuka is, at this stage, ” than a force of demands, a space of resistance “. And that the question of electoral alliances will perhaps come later.
To those who think he is closer to the current power, former Prime Minister Adolphe Muzito kicks in touch: “ I am a candidate until the end. To poach Muzito, you have to weigh more than him in terms of thought, vision and projects. »
