The British doctor Michael Mosleybetter known for launching the 5:2 diet, is missing after a hike on a Greek island, the Daily Mail reports.

A major search operation has been launched on the island of Symi since Mosley did not return on Wednesday night after a hike. He is said to have been on the beach in Sankt Nikolas with another couple when he decided to head home, the newspaper writes.

The police are searching for him with drones, among other things, but so far there is no trace of him.

– We have asked the rescue service for help in the search because he may have fallen from a high height, been bitten by a snake or is injured somewhere, says the police spokesperson Constantina Dimoglidou to The Daily Mail.

— There are simply no traces of him. None at all and that means that, at least for us, every conceivable scenario is open and under investigation.

Michael Mosley, who is a doctor and journalist, gained worldwide star status when he founded the so-called 5:2 diet.
